How Often Should You Add a New Blog Post?

A common question I hear from entrepreneurs just starting a blog is “how often should I be adding new blog posts?” And my answer is always the same…

It Depends.

I know, I know.

You were hoping for a more black-and-white answer like “2 times per week” or “every Monday morning” but the truth is, it really does depend on your business, your goals, and your audience.

Factors to consider when determining how often you should add new blog posts

Here are a few factors to consider when determining how often you should add new blog posts.

Your Industry –

If you’re in a rapidly-changing industry (like SEO), you’ll need to blog more frequently to keep your readers up-to-date on the latest changes and trends. But if you’re in a slower-moving industry (like skincare), you can get away with blogging less often.

Your Goals –

What are your goals for your blog? If one of your goals is to drive traffic to your website, you’ll need to blog more frequently because each new post gives you another chance to show up in search engine results.

Your Audience –

Who are you writing for? If you’re writing for busy moms, you might want to consider shorter posts that they can easily consume while juggling a million other things. But if you’re writing for small business owners, longer, more in-depth posts will probably be better received.

The bottom line is that no magic number of blog posts per week or month will work for every single business. It really does depend on the factors above. So my best advice is to start slow (1-2 times per month) and then increase frequency as needed based on the results you see.

If you are in a competitive niche, you should aim for at least 1-2 blog posts per week. This will help you stay relevant and allow you to build up a solid backlog of content.

If you are in a less competitive niche or have a smaller audience, then 1 blog post per week would suffice.

The key here is to be consistent with your postings.

Your audience will appreciate knowing when they can expect new content from you.

Creating quality content takes time and effort.

If you are cranking out 5 blog posts per week but they are all 500 words of fluff, then that will not do anything for your blog or your business.

It is better to have 1 or 2 well-written and informative blog posts per week than 5 poorly written ones.

Remember, quality over quantity!

Benefits of consistent blogging

Consistent blogging can have a lot of benefits for your business such as:

• Improved SEO rankings – Search engines will reward you for having fresh content on your website, which means more visibility in search engine results.

• Establishing yourself as an expert in your field – Consistently providing valuable content to your readers will help build trust and establish you as an authority in your industry.

• Generating leads – Quality blog posts can be used to drive traffic back to your website or other pages where people can convert into leads.

• Building relationships with potential customers – People like to know that the person behind the brand cares about them and is willing to provide helpful information. By consistently blogging
